The Ghana School of Law has inducted 376 students into its 2025/2026 Professional Law Course at the Kumasi Campus, marking the formal start of their training towards qualification for the Bar.

The induction ceremony was held at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and signalled the beginning of what school officials described as a demanding year of professional preparation.

Addressing the new intake, Chief Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie urged the students to prioritise character, discipline and integrity, saying the legal profession requires more than academic performance.

He said the intensity of legal education is meant to shape resilience and self-control, not to intimidate students.

“You will be stretched intellectually and tested mentally,” he told the inductees, adding that law is a calling grounded in public trust and that society will one day rely on their judgement and courage.

The Chief Justice also assured the public that professional standards remain firm. He cited a recent General Legal Council meeting where, he said, only one petition was granted out of about 100 received.

He added that fairness mechanisms such as retallying and remarking of examinations would continue to be applied carefully and within reasonable timelines.

The President of the Ashanti Bar Association, Kwame Owusu Sekyere, reminded students that law is a profession where progress often takes time.

He also warned that breaches of professional conduct are taken seriously, pointing to the role of the General Legal Council’s disciplinary processes, and urged the students to prepare for the responsibility of defending the rights of the public.

The event ended with congratulations from faculty and officials, who encouraged the students to approach the year with focus, commitment and a strong sense of duty.
