The Ghana Police Service has announced a reward of GH₵20,000 for anyone who provides credible information that leads to the arrest of individuals accused of making violent threats in Obuasi ahead of the 2024 general elections.
The suspects—Fuseini Yahuza, Bernard Ahedor, Simon, Basit, and Musa Yakubu, also known as "Agya Musah"—have been evading capture since November 15, 2024. Their threats, which were captured in a widely circulated video, have raised significant alarm due to their potential to disrupt the upcoming December elections.
The Police had earlier issued a statement on November 15, identifying the group’s actions as a violation of public peace under Section 207 of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29). The suspects were subsequently declared wanted.
On November 24, the Police issued another appeal, urging the public to assist in locating the suspects. The statement announced a monetary reward for any credible tips that aid in their arrest and encouraged individuals with information to call the Police via the dedicated number 0547927272.
The Police reassured the public of their commitment to safeguarding peace and ensuring a secure environment as the nation prepares for the general elections.
