According to a statement issued on Tuesday, the individuals repatriated last Saturday included 819 Nigeriens and 106 Nigerians, following profiling and security screening procedures.

The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has confirmed the repatriation of 925 foreign nationals who were removed from various streets in Accra as part of a special operation aimed at curbing illegal migration and street begging.
According to a statement issued on Tuesday, the individuals repatriated last Saturday included 819 Nigeriens and 106 Nigerians, following profiling and security screening procedures. An additional 1,316 persons, made up of 1,254 Nigeriens, 32 Nigerians, 28 Burkinabes, a Malian, and a Guinean, are currently being processed for removal.
The GIS explained that due to the extensive nature of the screening, repatriation could not commence immediately after last Friday’s operation. Immigrants were profiled based on gender and age in accordance with international best practices, delaying the process until the following day.
The Service emphasized that the operation is being carried out with a strong commitment to human rights and humane treatment. Detainees are being provided with meals and access to medical care through the GIS Clinic.
To prevent overcrowding at its Holding Centre in Accra, the Service has temporarily paused new arrests until further notice.
The Service expressed appreciation to the public, media, and other stakeholders for their ongoing support and called for continued collaboration to ensure the success of the exercise.
