the policewoman reported for duty in the morning and was said to have taken part in a general fatigue. It turned out to be the last time she was seen.
The Police Administration has placed a GH₵10,000 reward for information that will lead to the arrest and conviction of the suspected killer of Constable Sandra Asiedu at Damongo in the Savannah Region.
The police officer was found dead in a pool of blood with wounds believed to be knife stabs at her residence on Monday, August 2, 2021.
The Police has since launched a manhunt for the suspect, believed to be the boyfriend of the late police officer.
The GH₵10,000 was pledged by the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources Member of Parliament for Damongo, Mr Abu Jinapor on Tuesday, August 3.
He made the pledge through the Savannah Regional Minister, Mr Muhazu Saeed, when he led a team of NPP Constituency executives to commiserate with the Police on the death of Constable Sandra Asiedu.
On Monday, August 2, the Graphic Online gathered that the deceased, believed to be in her early 20s, hailed from Obuasi in the Ashanti Region and had joined the service two years ago.
She marked the second anniversary of her enlistment in the police service in July.
The supposed boyfriend, also from Obuasi, had come to live with the policewoman at her residence in Damongo in the neighbourhood of the regional police headquarters.
A reliable source said on Saturday, July 31, 2021, the policewoman reported for duty in the morning and was said to have taken part in a general fatigue. It turned out to be the last time she was seen.
Gone awol
The source said the policewoman was supposed to be on night duty the following day, last Sunday, but did not show up and so the officer in charge, together with one other person, went to her residence to check on her, but they saw her door locked with a padlock.
With still no news of her whereabouts, some officers were sent to her residence again to check on her yesterday morning and upon the prompting of another resident about a supposed foul odour emanating from her room, her door was forced open and she was found lying in a pool of blood with multiple knife wounds on her body.
