The Ghana Bar Association (GBA) has offered GHC 20,000 for information on armed men who shot and killed lawyer Richard Badombie on Saturday.

The private legal practitioner was shot dead by armed men while journeying with his family from Accra to Jirapa on the Bole-Bamboi Highway in the Savannah Region.

In a statement signed by both the National President and Secretary of the association, it said it noted with grave concern, the upsurge in armed robbery and other violent crimes in the country while also calling on relevant security agencies to be swift with investigations of the incident.

“The GBA also urges the general public to volunteer information to the security agencies to enable them thoroughly investigate the matter with a view to identifying the perpetrators of the crime and making them suffer the consequences of their action. The GBA stands ready and prepared to give a reward of Twenty Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHC20, OOO.OO) to anyone who volunteers credible and legitimate information that will lead to the arrest and prosecution of the perpetrators of the crime,” the statement said.

It further assured members of the association that it “will do everything within its power to ensure the arrest and prosecution of the perpetrators of this abominable crime.”

Meanwhile, the Savannah Regional Police says it has arrested three suspects, yet to be identified by the family of the deceased who were present at the time of the incident.

“After the incident – that was on the Saturday dawn – the Savannah Regional Command moved to the scene and with the help of the intelligence unit in the Region, we’ve been able to round up some three suspects, who we are profiling to see if they are the actual culprits,” Public Relations Officer of the Savannah Regional Police, Inspector Agyekum Owusu told reporters.
