GBA not an elitist organization – President Akufo-Addo
According to him, such statements and views are unsubstantiated because the GBA is rather an institution that has stood up and continues to champion good governance in the country and thus needs the support of all.
The President of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo disagrees with the claim and notion by a section of Ghanaians that the Ghana Bar Association is an elitist organization.
According to him, such statements and views are unsubstantiated because the GBA is rather an institution that has stood up and continues to champion good governance in the country and thus needs the support of all.
He made this known when the GBA president, Yaw Acheampong Boafo, and his delegation paid a courtesy call on him at the Jubilee House on Tuesday, October 4, to thank him for his presence at the just ended 2022 Bar Conference.
Additionally, the president quizzed whether those tagging the lawyers’ association as elitist, really understood the same.
Professing his view of the GBA, Pres. Akuffo Addo noted that an organization that has championed the concerns of the ordinary persons through numerous sacrifices in addition to its commitment to good governance, cannot be termed elitist.
He added that the Ghana Bar Association is outspoken and continues to speak to the interest of the ordinary citizens for accountable governance and thus called on all right-thinking lawyers to support it.
