The Supreme Court on Tuesday dismissed a motion by Former President John Dramani Mahama requesting the Electoral Commission to answer questions on oath.

Dismissing this, the Supreme Court said it was not relevant to the instant case.

“The Court is of the opinion that the crucial issue of relevancy has not been established in this application,” Justice Anin Yeboah said as he read out the unanimous decision.

The full ruling of the court which is attached is part of an ongoing Election Petition before the Supreme Court challenging the outcome of the 2020 Presidential Election results as declared by the Electoral Commission.

The Petitioners contend that, neither of the two leading candidates in that election secured the constitutionally required votes of more than a 50% of the total valid votes cast to be declared winner in that polls.

They are therefore before the court for a declaration to rerun the 7th December 2020 Presidential Elections between the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and his Predecessor, John Dramani Mahama.
