A police patrol operation linked to Easter security arrangements has led to the arrest of four men in the Central Region after officers found 21 mobile phones believed to have been stolen from revellers in Agona Swedru.

The suspects, Anthony Fiave, Bright Owusu, Kwaku Appiah and John Addai, were picked up in the early hours of Monday, 6 April 2026, at about 3:45am.

According to police, the men were travelling in a Toyota Hiace vehicle, popularly known as a “fish” car, with registration number GB 6246-22, when they were intercepted during a stop-and-search exercise along the Kasoa-Ofaakor-Bawjiase-Swedru road.

The operation was carried out by the Kasoa Divisional Police as part of measures aimed at keeping the Easter festivities free from crime.

Police say a detailed search of the vehicle led to the recovery of 21 assorted mobile phones. Investigators believe the devices were stolen during the Easter celebrations in Agona Swedru.

Preliminary findings, according to the police, suggest the suspects had gone on a phone-stealing spree during the festivities and managed to take the phones from unsuspecting celebrants, many of whom have not yet been identified.

All four men remain in custody and are assisting with investigations. Police say prosecution is likely to follow.

The recovered phones have been retained as exhibits, while police have asked anyone who may have lost a phone during the celebrations to report to the Kasoa Divisional Police Command to help identify and retrieve their property.
