A renewed outbreak of violence in the Nkwanta South Municipality has led to the arrest of four people and triggered a major security build-up in the area.

The Oti Regional Minister, John Kwadwo Gyapong, confirmed the arrests after an emergency meeting involving the Regional Security Council and the Municipal Security Council.

According to him, one of the suspects has already been remanded to Kete-Krachi Prison, while the other three remain in police custody as investigations continue.

The latest clashes have raised fresh concern because they come after repeated attempts to ease tensions through dialogue among leaders of the Adele, Akyode and Challa communities.

Officials say those mediation efforts had been aimed at calming a long-running conflict, but violence has broken out again despite that engagement.

In response, the government has reinforced security in the municipality, deploying more than 120 police officers and over 150 military personnel.

Authorities say the increased presence is intended to contain the unrest, protect residents and prevent the situation from deteriorating further.

The Regional Minister has appealed to the public to stay calm and work with the security services by sharing credible information on suspicious activity.

For now, the area remains under close watch as security forces continue operations aimed at restoring order and preventing further confrontations.
