Five arrested over Nkaseim armed robbery as police hunt three more

The Ghana Police Service says it has arrested five suspects linked to a violent armed robbery carried out in Nkaseim in December 2025.

In a statement shared on its Facebook page, the police said the attack happened on 2 December 2025, when the suspects, working with other accomplices and armed with weapons, struck multiple targets in the community.

Police said the gang first blocked the Goaso–Tepa road before launching near-simultaneous attacks on the Nkaseim Police Station, the Adwumapa Cocoa Buying Company, the Kobby Gold Buying Company and the area around the Asutifi Rural Bank.

During the raid, officers say two AK-47 rifles were taken from the police station. The attackers also stole an undisclosed amount of money from the bank, as well as GHS 14,000 from Adwumapa Cocoa Buying Company and GHS 12,000 from Kobby Gold Buying Company. An employee of the cocoa buying company was shot and injured, according to the police account.

The police said intelligence-led operations and forensic work led to the first arrest. Mutar Kofi, a 35-year-old commercial tricycle rider, was arrested on 16 January 2026 at a place known locally as Ata ne Ata near Nkaseim. Police said he later admitted his role in the robbery.

Further arrests followed. Mahamadu Sagio, 45, was arrested at Nkaseim. Shaibu Issah Jallo, 28, was arrested at Chereponi. Abdul Suleman, 40, was arrested at Tanga near Karaga. A fifth suspect, Bukari Sulley, 25, a trader operating at Alaba in Kumasi, was arrested on 25 January 2026.

Police said they are stepping up efforts to arrest three more suspects identified as Dauda, Mohammed Ali and Hoyeefi, who they believe led the gang. Investigators also suspect Hoyeefi may be holding the stolen rifles and other firearms used during the attack.

The police say they remain committed to tracking down the remaining suspects and bringing everyone involved before the courts.
