An intelligence-led police operation at Sapeiman Faase in the Greater Accra Region has led to the arrest of five men suspected to be involved in armed robbery and landguard activities.
The operation also resulted in the retrieval of firearms, ammunition and other offensive weapons.
The suspects have been identified as Torgbui Agah Semaglo, 50; Shadrach Agah Semaglo, 22; William Kweku Sedanu, 21; Cyril Kassenu, 26; and Kingsford Agah Semaglo, 18.
According to the Accra Regional Police Command, the arrests were made on July 17, 2026, after intelligence gathered by the police led officers to the suspects’ premises.
The operation was carried out jointly with the National Police Intelligence Directorate.
During a search of the premises, police recovered one pump-action gun, one Stoeger ST-R9 pistol, one dummy Austria pistol, one jackknife and one face mask.
Officers also found 12 BB cartridges, three rounds of 9mm ammunition, one round of AK-47 ammunition, one talisman and two kitchen knives.
The recovered items have been retained as exhibits.
In a statement issued on July 20, 2026, police said preliminary investigations suggest that the suspects belong to a criminal group linked to armed robbery and landguard operations.
The group is also alleged to have used the weapons to intimidate and terrorise residents of Sapeiman and surrounding communities.
The suspects are currently in police custody and are assisting with investigations.
Police say further inquiries are ongoing to establish whether they are connected to other robbery cases and related offences.
Efforts are also underway to identify and arrest other suspected accomplices.
The Accra Regional Police Command has appealed to the public to support investigations by volunteering credible information.
Residents have been urged to report suspicious persons or activities to the nearest police station or through police emergency numbers.
The command said it remains committed to protecting lives and property across the Greater Accra Region.
