The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has cautioned the public to ignore reports circulating online claiming that the Service has opened a new recruitment drive.

According to the Director-General of the GNFS, Daniella Mawusi Ntow Sarpong, no such recruitment exercise is currently underway. She warned that fraudsters are exploiting social media platforms, including Facebook, TikTok, and WhatsApp, to dupe unsuspecting job seekers.

Speaking in an interview with Adom News, Madam Ntow Sarpong disclosed that the Service, in collaboration with security agencies, has arrested several suspects connected to these fake recruitment syndicates. The culprits, she added, would be prosecuted soon.

She further clarified that she does not operate any personal social media accounts, urging the public to disregard any profiles purporting to represent her.

The GNFS Director-General also used the opportunity to advise the public on fire prevention, noting that most fire incidents in Ghana stem from human negligence.

She reiterated the Service’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, adding that public education and awareness campaigns would be intensified nationwide to curb preventable fire outbreaks.
