Federation of African Law Students elects Ghana’s Alfred Eli Dei as President
The election of Alfred is certainly a piece of good news and achievement for Ghana and its Law fraternity.
The Federation of African Law Students(FALAS) has elected a Ghanaian, Alfred Eli Kwasi Dei as its current President.
This announcement was made by the Federation’s Electoral Commission on Sunday, September 5, 2021.
Alfred Kwasi Dei, who is the immediate past President of the UPSA Law Students Union, polled 58.33 percent against his main contenders from Liberia and Sierra Leone’s 25 and 16.67 percent respectively.
He takes over from Nwobo Emmanuel, who made remarkable achievements for the Federation during his tenure including bringing African Law Students together to form a united front.
The Federation of African Law Students’(FALAS) was officially launched on August 14, 2020, after Sierra Leone, Ghana, Uganda, Rwanda, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Kenya, Angola, Tanzania, South Sudan, Zimbabwe, Burkina Faso, and Liberia signed the FALAS accord.
The FALAS seeks to provide opportunities for Law Students in Africa by bridging the existing gap, building a network, bringing African students in tune with current global practices in the profession, and more.
