The Ga Mantse, Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru II has been petitioned by the family of a man who was gunned down by Police officers at Ntoase in the Eastern Region during a raid on a suspected robbery gang.

The raid was part of the police’s Anti-Armed Robbery Taskforce strategy to clamp down on violent crimes in the country.

The police retrieved over 2,800 live ammunition during this effort against the robbery gang at Ntoase. According to reports, the gang members fled the scene when they sighted the police.

However, reports further suggest that one suspected member of the gang hid in a room and opened fire on the Police. This prompted return fire from the police leading to his death.

Nonetheless, the family of the deceased in the petition to the Ga Mantse has denied the involvement of the deceased in any such crimes.

The brother of the deceased, Samuel Tettey Okaiteye told Citi News that “my brother did not deserve to die this way. He is not an armed robber, we want justice to be served.”
