Ex-NACOC Boss, two others charged over alleged stealing, assault on estranged wife
The three accused persons, Kenneth Adu-Amanfoh, Prosper Aproma and Abraham Tetteh, all pleaded not guilty when they appeared before the Circuit Court.
A criminal case involving the former Director-General of the Narcotics Control Commission has opened in Kumasi, where Kenneth Adu-Amanfoh and two other men are now facing a series of charges linked to an alleged confrontation with his estranged wife.
The three accused persons, Kenneth Adu-Amanfoh, Prosper Aproma and Abraham Tetteh, all pleaded not guilty when they appeared before the Circuit Court.
The charges before the court include assault, causing harm, stealing, disturbing the peace and exposing children to danger.
At the centre of the case is a complaint by Linda Adu-Amanfoh, the former anti-narcotics chief’s estranged wife, who says armed men confronted her and forcibly took custody of their children. The prosecution’s case is that the action was carried out at the direction of the first accused and that the two other men assisted in the operation.
The allegations are particularly striking because they suggest state-linked force may have been used in what the complainant describes as a private domestic dispute. Court documents indicate that she had reported the incident earlier, although the arrest of her husband did not happen immediately.
When the matter was called, the first legal contest centred not on the facts, but on bail.
Lawyers for the accused urged the court to release them, while the prosecution pushed back against any attempt to grant bail on self-recognisance. The state insisted that any release should be tied to sureties.
The court ultimately admitted Adu-Amanfoh to bail in the sum of GH¢50,000 with two sureties. The two other accused were each granted GH¢40,000 bail, also with two sureties.
The case has been adjourned to 13 May 2026, when proceedings are expected to continue.
