The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has dismissed reports suggesting it failed to act on a petition involving Springfield Energy and its CEO, Kevin Okyere, who was allegedly detained in Dubai.

In a statement issued on Sunday, November 2, EOCO described the publication by online portal Novareport as “false and misleading”, urging the public to disregard it.

“Contrary to the claims made by Novareport, EOCO has two active investigations involving Springfield Energy — a petition against the company and a major case between BOST and Springfield Energy,” the agency said.

EOCO clarified that it operates under a policy of investigating before arresting, stressing that no petition has been ignored.

The Office added that the ongoing BOST-Springfield case is a priority matter because of its potential economic impact and assured the public that investigations are being pursued diligently.

“It is regrettable that Novareport did not seek clarification from EOCO before running the false story,” the statement said.

EOCO reaffirmed its commitment to fighting economic and organized crime and called for public confidence in its work.
