A self-styled prophet whose failed prediction of a global flood caused widespread alarm has been remanded into custody and ordered to undergo a psychiatric assessment by the Adenta District Court.

Ebo Noah, known off the pulpit as Evans Eshun, is facing charges of false communication and causing fear and panic after his widely publicised prophecy that the world would be destroyed by floodwaters on 25 December 2025.

He was arrested on 31 December 2025 by the Ghana Police Service’s Special Cyber Vetting Team and made his first court appearance shortly after, where the presiding judge directed that he be held in custody while specialists evaluate his mental health.

Noah had attracted national attention after claiming that God had revealed the date of an imminent, world-ending deluge. He constructed what he called an “ark” at his residence, insisting it would serve as a vessel of salvation when the flood struck.

When the predicted disaster did not occur, he reportedly told followers that his intensive prayers had persuaded God to postpone the destruction, rather than admit the prophecy had failed.
