DVLA to open overseas offices to combat fake licences

The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) is set to establish six international offices to tackle the growing issue of fake driver’s licenses used by Ghanaians living overseas.

This announcement was made on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, during the commissioning of a newly constructed, state-of-the-art DVLA facility in Adentan Municipality. The Adentan branch is expected to operate 24 hours a day and provide comprehensive DVLA services, including driver licensing and vehicle registration.

DVLA Chief Executive Officer, Julius Neequaye Kotey, revealed that the authority is collaborating with embassies in selected countries to roll out the international expansion. Countries identified for the pilot phase include Germany, Canada, the UK, USA, South Africa, and the UAE.

The Minister for Transport, Joseph Bukari Nikpe, who delivered remarks on behalf of the President, urged the DVLA to uphold high standards in service delivery and enforce road safety regulations effectively.
