Communications Minister Sam George has granted a one-week extension to the stakeholder committee tasked with reviewing DSTv subscription pricing in Ghana.

The committee, which began work on September 8, 2025, was initially expected to present its findings earlier but will now deliver its final report by September 29, 2025, according to a statement from the National Communications Authority (NCA).

The committee’s work covers:

Developing a shared understanding of DSTv pricing in Ghana.

Proposing commercially viable solutions acceptable to all parties.

Establishing a roadmap to curb cross-border piracy of DSTv decoders and services from Nigeria.

The NCA noted that the committee has made significant headway since its inauguration but required additional time to conclude consultations and harmonise positions.

The extension comes against a backdrop of growing public concern over subscription affordability and mounting pressure to address the illegal flow of DSTv services across borders. The review is seen as crucial to ensuring fair pricing and protecting both consumers and broadcasters in Ghana.
