Dishonest receivers of robbed motorbikes clamped down by police in Upper East
Mumuni Bawa 33, Atampugri Akolgo 44, and Solomon Alika 28 were arrested at different locations in the region
Police in Upper East Region have clamped down on dishonest receivers of robbed motorbikes.
The Upper East Regional Police Command as part of robust security measures to combat violent crime especially robbery arrested on Sunday, June 4, 2021, three major suspects involved in receiving robbed, stolen, and snatched motorbikes usually at gunpoint in the Region.
According to a release by the upper East regional command, Mumuni Bawa 33, Atampugri Akolgo 44, and Solomon Alika 28 were arrested at different locations in the region.
The command notes that all the three were arraigned before the Bolgatanga District Magistrate Court on Tuesday, July 6, 2021, and have thus been remanded into Police custody to reappear on Monday, July 26, 2021, as police embark on further investigations.
A search conducted at Mumuni Bawa’s place of abode led to a discovery of a suspected fake Ten Thousand US dollars in hundred bill denomination and eight(8) motorbike number plates believed to have been detached from some of the robbed motorbikes he has already offered for sale at Dapango, a neighbouring town.
The Regional command assures the public of its continued efforts and determination to fight crime.
“The Regional Police command assures the public that it will continue to fight armed robbery and other violent crime in the region through tackling of every dimension that serves as a motivation to criminal activities,” the statement said.
