Dambai Police Command arrest man for allegedly killing mother with pestle

A 26-year-old farmer, Yaw Nimoah, has been taken into custody by the Dambai Police Command for allegedly murdering his 60-year-old mother, Madam Salomey Ama Serwaa, using a pestle in Yabram, a community near Dambai, the capital of the Oti Region.
Philip Kwadwo Bidaba, the assembly member for the Kwame-Akura East Electoral Area, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the suspect had a troubling history of threatening his mother with a cutlass on multiple occasions.
Mr. Bidaba revealed that Nimoah's behavior had been a source of concern for the community. In the past, he had also threatened a neighbor with a cutlass, which led to his arrest. However, he was subsequently released.
The Assembly Member recounted receiving a call from a good Samaritan who had heard the suspect shouting for help, claiming his mother’s head had been smashed. Acting swiftly, Mr. Bidaba and the Unit Committee Chairman rushed to the scene, where they discovered the lifeless body of Madam Serwaa lying in a pool of blood on a mat, her head severely injured.
A police spokesperson confirmed the incident and stated that an investigation has been launched to determine the events leading to the tragic incident. Yaw Nimoah remains in custody as inquiries continue.
