The Nkawie Circuit Court has remanded a 27-year-old man into police custody for defrauding two persons, under the pretext of facilitating their recruitment into both the Police Service and the Immigration Service.
The accused, Issac Osei is said to have collected amounts of GHC 7000.00 and GHC 36,000.00 from victims.
He however pleaded not guilty in court even though prosecutors say he admitted to the offence in his caution statement.
According to the prosecution, one of the victims was a junior high schoolmate of the accused.
Police Chief Detective Inspector Anthony Acheampong told the court that the schoolmate in his report to the police said the accused had said he was attached to the third battalion infantry at Sunyani and that he knew top people in the security services.
The Police Inspector also told the court that Issac Osei promised to facilitate recruitment processes for 10 relatives of a second complainant.
Prosecution said the accused after collecting monies from the victims, failed to direct them to training centres.
The case has been adjourned to February 2, 2022.
