The Accra Circuit Court has remanded the Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe, widely known as Abronye.

Abronye, recognized for his fiery political commentary, drew public attention last week when he filed for political asylum in eight different nations: Côte d’Ivoire, the United States, France, Italy, Canada, Spain, the United Kingdom, and Germany.

Abronye was arrested days later for offensive conduct conducive to the breach of the peace, in connection with viral attacks contained in a circulated video in which he is heard attacking the current Inspector General of Police.

When he was presented to court today, however, the court remanded him into police custody to reappear on Friday, 12th September 2025.
