Former Ghanaian football star, Nii Odartey Lamptey, has been granted ownership of his seven-bedroom East Legon Mansion.

The latest  High Court ruling which came on March 2, 2022, ordered his ex-wife, Gloria Appiah to hand over keys to the former Ghanaian football star within a month.

In July 2021, the Court of Appeal dismissed for the second time an appeal by Nii Odartey Lamptey’s ex-wife thus ordering her to move from the mansion.

In July 2020, a three-member panel of judges ruled that she did not deserve the property and thereby ordered her to move out.

This was after an Accra High Court had earlier ordered her to vacate the same property.

The footballer’s ex-wife, Gloria Appiah however went back to the Court of Appeal, praying the Court to grant her the Seven-bedroom house owned by the Ex-footballer as part of her alimony for their marital split.

In an interview with Angel FM in Accra on Monday, April 4, 2022, Nii Odartey Lamptey confirmed the news and expressed optimism and readiness to take immediate control over his mansion which he lost control of in 2014.

He was full of praise for his lawyers who have stood with him for over 9 years in this battle.

Background

The marriage between Odartey Lamptey and Gloria Appiah hit a snag in 2013 after a DNA test revealed that the three children he raised with her were not his biological children.

According to the footballer, he heard rumors about his wife’s promiscuity over a few years but was in the investigation process when issues were compounded by disagreement over the first child’s school fees.

Odartey Lamptey further recounted that close pals at this point advised him to undertake a DNA on the kids after receiving many recordings of activities of his ex-wife.

He, therefore, did the DNA test which he described as a defining moment.

Following the divorce, the footballer had to part with his 5 bedroom Dome House plus GHC400,000 as alimony to his Ex-wife.

However, the Ex-wife, Gloria insisted rather being given the seven-bedroom East Legon Mansion and thus winning a suit that ordered the footballer to pack out of the house within an hour leading to the occupancy by the former.

Nii Odartey Lamptey currently has two girls with his partner,  Ruweida Yakubu, an actress.
