Court grants GH¢100,000 bail to apprentice accused of robbing two foreign students
The bail, granted by Her Honour Susana Eduful, must be executed by the accused person’s parents together with a civil servant earning not less than GH¢2,000 a month.
A 20-year-old air-condition apprentice, Arthur Habakkuk, has been granted GH¢100,000 bail by an Accra Circuit Court in a case involving alleged unlawful entry and robbery against two foreign students.
The bail, granted by Her Honour Susana Eduful, must be executed by the accused person’s parents together with a civil servant earning not less than GH¢2,000 a month.
Habakkuk pleaded not guilty to two counts of unlawful entry to commit crime and robbery, offences cited under Sections 152 and 149 of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29). The prosecution is being led by Chief Inspector Abigail Offeabea.
Prosecutors say the incident happened on 16 December 2025 at Alajo in Accra.
They allege Habakkuk entered the complainants’ room — occupied by two foreign nationals who are students — with the intention to rob them, and then used a knife to threaten them while taking two phones:

The court heard that at about 1:30pm, the accused allegedly went to the students’ hostel and knocked. When the door was opened, prosecutors say he forced his way in, pushed them back, locked the door, produced a kitchen knife and ordered them to sit on the floor.
He is further accused of restraining the complainants with sponges and rags, taping their mouths, covering their faces with towels and veils, and touching their private parts.
A neighbour who allegedly heard screams raised an alarm, leading to Habakkuk’s arrest. He was later handed over to police at Kotobabi, where a formal complaint was filed.
Police told the court that during investigations Habakkuk admitted the allegations in his caution statement.
Prosecutors say the two phones were retrieved from his backpack alongside items including a kitchen knife, scissors, a key, solution tape, and a duster.
The case has been adjourned to a later date for continuation.
