The three persons who were arrested over their alleged role in a clash between two youth groups at Ntonso in the Kwabre East District on July 5, 2021, have been granted bail by the Mamponteng District Court in the Ashanti Region.

The three are Nantoma Ishau, a 20-year-old barber; Ernest Boakye, a 22-year-old driver’s mate; and Kwadwo Manu, also a 23-year-old driver’s mate.

The court presided over by His Worship Thomas Soyori granted bail of GHS 6,000 to the three accused with two sureties each.

The court explained that the decision to grant the bail was on the basis of the fact that while the three had been held in police custody for almost three weeks, they had been only accused of provisional charges.

They were arrested for rioting with weapons. Three other persons who are believed to have taken part in the riot are presently being hunted by the police. They have been identified as Khalifa, Tuga, and Alinga.

The accused persons would reappear before the court on 12th August 2021.
