The Takoradi Habour Circuit Court A has adjourned to March 22nd, 2022, the case against the suspended Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) Abdul Mumin Issah.

This was due to Prosecutor’s inability to file disclosures and serve the defence counsel as earlier directed by the court.

A member of the legal team for the accused, Samuel Agbota, responding to the development prayed the court to ensure the prosecution files the disclosures and serves them before the next adjournment date, as the delays will affect the human rights of his client.

The accused was arrested on February 3, 2022, for an alleged motor offense, verbal assault, and offensive conduct against a Police Officer in his line of duty.

In a leaked audio that circulated on social media, the suspended MCE was heard insulting a police officer and threatening him with a transfer.

He was subsequently suspended from office, on orders of President Nana Akufo-Addo.

Even though he has been granted bail, he is facing charges on three counts of assault of a public officer, offensive conduct conducive to breaches of the peace, and disturbing the peace in a public place contrary to Sections 205, 207, and 298 respectively of the Criminal and other Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29).
