The Minister for Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovation, Samuel Nartey George, has instructed the National Communications Authority (NCA) to shut down seven radio stations across the country.
According to the Minister, this decision aims to uphold broadcasting regulations and address national security concerns.
In a Press statement dated February 18, 2025, he disclosed that the directive involved two separate enforcement actions.
Providing further details, he explained that one of the affected stations was shut down due to national security concerns, while the other six were operating without the necessary frequency authorization.
He also noted that the enforcement followed a recent frequency audit.
Samuel Nartey George emphasized that the directive was to be implemented immediately, with additional measures expected in the coming days. “The enforcement is effective immediately, and further action will follow,” he added.
Reaffirming his stance on media regulation, he urged all media organizations to strictly adhere to the conditions outlined in their frequency licenses.
