CLOGSAG announces nationwide strike over Births & Deaths Registrar appointment
This decision was reached during a National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held on February 11, 2025, where members expressed concerns about the inclusion of politically exposed individuals in the Civil Service and local government administration.

The Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) has announced an indefinite nationwide strike in response to the appointment of Samuel Adom Botchway as the new Registrar of the Births and Deaths Registry.
This decision was reached during a National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held on February 11, 2025, where members expressed concerns about the inclusion of politically exposed individuals in the Civil Service and local government administration.
According to CLOGSAG, the leadership had previously warned that if Mr. Botchway officially assumed office, they would be left with no choice but to take industrial action.
With his assumption of duty on February 12, 2025, the association has now confirmed that the strike will commence on Thursday, February 20, 2025.
CLOGSAG has called on all its members to remain at home from the start of the strike until further notice, emphasizing their stance against political interference in the public service.
