Chief Justice Torkornoo stressed that besides imparting an understanding of the rule of law, the club would help students navigate the complexities of legal matters

The Chief Justice, Justice Gertrude Sackey Torkornoo, has underscored the vital role of law in advancing society during a recent event.
She also emphasized the importance of cultivating legal awareness among youth.
Speaking at the inauguration and swearing-in ceremony for newly elected executives of the Justice Club at the school in Tema last Friday, Justice Torkornoo stressed that besides imparting an understanding of the rule of law, the club would help students navigate the complexities of legal matters and appreciate the values inherent in the law.
Leading the club are Benjamin Ofotsu Freeman as President, Mary Sowah as Vice President, Ruth Klutse as Secretary, Boatemaa Acquah as Organiser, Samuel Ato Koomson as Assistant Organiser, and Abigail Asare as Treasurer.
This initiative is part of the Chief Justice's Mentoring Program, an annual endeavor aimed at guiding young minds.
Originally conceived by former Chief Justice, Justice Georgina T. Wood, the program aimed to familiarize students with the court system and ignite their interest in the legal field.
Justice Torkornoo has thus expanded on this, establishing Justice Clubs in secondary schools.
These clubs receive mentorship from experienced legal professionals drawn from both the bar and the bench.
Also, she emphasized the importance of instilling principles of law and justice, believing it would bolster the efficacy of justice systems and foster peace and prosperity.
Further, she underscored the potential of the Justice Club to cultivate excellence among its members as they delve into legal principles.
