CETAG begins indefinite strike today
This was necessitated by a unanimous decision taken at an emergency National Council meeting on Tuesday, January 4, 2022.
The College of Education Teachers Association of Ghana(CETAG) has begun a nationwide indefinite strike action effective December 6, 2022.
This was necessitated by a unanimous decision taken at an emergency National Council meeting on Tuesday, January 4, 2022.
According to a statement by the Association, it notes several grounds for this industrial action as listed below;
1. Failure by the Government to implement the 2017-2020 conditions of service as agreed.
2. CETAG and the Government signed a Memorandum of Understanding(MOU) on September 24, 2021, after reaching agreements on 2017-2020 conditions of Service(CoS) for members of the Association.
3. The said MOU states the effective date of implementation as of January 1, 2021, while payment of associated arrears of nine(9) months was to be paid in October, November, and December 2021.
The Association per the above has therefore withdrawn Teaching, one of its main duties in all the forty-six(46) public colleges of Education across the Country thus entreating all members to comply.
