The Amasaman Circuit Court has granted bail to a businessman and a farmer accused of defrauding an estate developer in a GH¢120,000 land transaction.

Nii Korley Sai Boni IV, 53, and Kingsley Oblitey Quansah Commey, 44, were each granted bail set at GH¢150,000 with two sureties. The court, presided over by Ms. Enid Marful-Sau, ordered the sureties to deposit valid national identity cards with the Registry.

The two men are accused of illegally selling 20 plots of land without proper titles to Raymond Kwaku Marfo, CEO of RKM Estate Development Company. They both denied conspiring to defraud Marfo. The court has directed the prosecution to provide all necessary case materials to the accused by April 2, 2025.

Chief Inspector Frederick Awuah-Ansah, prosecuting, stated that in June 2022, Marfo was working on land he had purchased from Abusuapayin Ayitey Ankwah of Ankwa Dobro when he was confronted by the accused and another individual, Obodai, who is now deceased. Nii Boni, a businessman who claims to be the chief of Korleyman near Medie, and Commey, a farmer from Papase near Adjen Kotoku, asserted ownership of the land.

They allegedly persuaded Marfo to buy 20 plots along the road leading to Samsam. After paying GH¢120,000 and receiving an official receipt, Marfo later discovered an injunction had been placed on the land. A search at the Lands Commission revealed that the property was registered under Babbel Limited, not the accused.

Marfo subsequently reported the matter to the Amasaman Divisional CID on May 10, 2024. Following their arrest, Nii Boni and Commey admitted to the offense in their caution statements and pledged to refund the money, but failed to do so.

After investigations, they were charged and brought before the court. The case continues as further legal proceedings unfold.
