Bulldog sues Shatta Wale for defamation
In a writ signed by Justice Srem Sai of the Law offices of the Praetorium Solicitors, Bulldog states that sometime in 2021, he ended his professional relationship with the artiste leading to a strain in their relationship.
Lawrence Nana Asiamah Hanson popularly called Bulldog has sued popular Dancehall artist, Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jnr known in showbiz as Shatta Wale at the High Court in Accra for defamation.
The plaintiff, who is a former manager of the artist indicates that he managed Shatta Wale’s music and entertainment career for about 5 years within which period the artist rose from obscurity to stardom.
In a writ signed by Justice Srem Sai of the Law offices of the Praetorium Solicitors, Bulldog states that sometime in 2021, he ended his professional relationship with the artiste leading to a strain in their relationship.
Following the death of Fennec Okyere, former manager of hiplife artist, Kwaw Kesse in March 2014 at his Manet Gardens residence in Accra, Bulldog was arrested and investigated in respect of the murder and was subsequently discharged following the advice of the Attorney General that there was no evidence against him.
Years after that, Dancehall artist, Shatta Wale, and his supposed manager, Nana Asaiamah Hanson also known as Bulldog after parting ways, are at each other's throats.
In a live video on November 2, 2022, Shatta Wale called the bluff of his former Manager relative to fake stories he claims he had been spreading about him.
Subsequently, Bulldog in a post, revealed hidden international collaborations made by the Dancehall artist which did not go down well with Shatta.
He thus responded in a Tweet in which he wrote; “Bull Dog, since you are bringing out secrets, you will tell Ghanaians what happen to Fenicks (sic) Murder!! And I am not joking about this time!! I am ready to tell the court about what you told me about you and your men and how planned that foolish act, get ready. This Akufo Addo won’t give you a murder (sic) chance to be on our streets!!! Watch how this ends!!! You can’t fight time!!!”
However, the plaintiff notes per his suit that by publishing the above, Shatta Wale meant or wanted to be taken to mean;
That he(Bulldog) confessed to him that he planned, effected, or had a hand in the murder of the said Fennec Okyere.
That he was the person who planned, effected, or had a hand in the murder of Fennec Okyere.
That he is a criminal gangster and a danger to society and ought to be in jail.
That his claims in the publication are factual, and truthful and must be taken seriously by the public and law enforcement authorities.
Bulldog is thus seeking court orders and declaratory reliefs which include;
A declaration that the series of publications made by Shatta Wale is defamatory to him.
A declaration that the series of publications made by Shatta Wale is malicious
An order directed at Shatta Wale to make a publication on seven consecutive days of an unqualified retraction of an unreserved apology for the defamatory words.
An order for perpetual injunction against Shatta Wale, his agents, workmen, assigns, and servants from publishing any defamatory words against him.
General damages for defamation
