The British Boxing Board of Control (BBBofC) will now allow Ghanaian boxers to compete in the United Kingdom.

The BBBofC stated in March 2022 that they would not consider applications from Ghanaian boxers wishing to compete in British events. This they explained was due to the licensing and authorisation issues with the Ghana Boxing Authority.

But the BBBofC on Thursday issued a statement that they have resolved with the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA), and would permit Ghanaian boxers to compete.

"Following the Memorandum of 18th March 2022, please be advised that Ghanaian Boxers are permitted to compete in the UK as of Monday, July 18, 2022.

Working closely with the GBA, BBBofC are permitting the participation of Ghanaian Boxers in the UK subject to some conditions," the statement said.

The BBBofC in their statement said they would not accept any medical documentation from promoters, matchmakers or any third party, and would only deal with the GBA.

It further urged the GBA to provide travel documentation of with regard to Boxers who intend to compete in the UK.
