Bomb threats intensify against Irish Deputy Premier Simon Harris

Irish Deputy Premier Simon Harris has once again been the target of security threats, with police confirming multiple bomb warnings linked to his residence.
A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána, Ireland’s national police service, said investigations were underway. Harris was not at home at the time, and the Garda Dog Unit was dispatched to the property.
This marks the third incident in just over a week. On Saturday, Harris revealed that a “vile” threat had been directed at a close family member. Earlier, a woman was arrested and later released after allegedly threatening his children.
Harris said in a statement that the threats carried “a very apparent motivation” to “intimidate me out of public office.” He warned: “It is me today but it will be someone else tomorrow.”
The Deputy Premier, who also serves as Minister for Foreign Affairs, Trade and Defence, added that he would consult with his Fine Gael party and government colleagues about the growing issue of online intimidation.
“Someone has to call a halt. Protecting my family will remain my number one priority. I will be guided by them on the next steps.”
Harris has faced intimidation before, including threats made via social media and by telephone, as well as protests staged outside his home where his wife and children live.
