The Police says it is pursuing three other suspects in relation to the arrest of Accra FM journalist, Kwabena Bobie Ansah.

This is according to a statement signed by the Head of Public Affairs in the Ashanti Region, Dept. Supt. Juliana Obeng.

The three others, whose names were not indicated, are said to have together with Bobie Ansah, “made several statements against some individuals on the ‘Citizen Show’ on Accra FM.

According to a January 31 letter cited by Dennislaw News, the Cantoments Police Command wrote to the Class Media Group, owners of Accra FM, requesting for videos of allegations involving the First Lady, of which Kwabena Bobie Ansah is said to have discussed on his show.

“The Cantoments Divisional Criminal Investigation Department is investigating a case of alleged fraudulent acquisition of Government lands at AU Village by H/E Rebecca Akufo-Addo which was discussed on ‘Citizen Show’ hosted by Kwabena Bobie Ansah of Accra FM,” the January 31, 2022 letter indicated.

Police have said their investigations have found those statements to be false.

“The suspect and others involved in the case were invited to assist the Police with the investigation on several occasions but they failed to honour the invitation,” the statement said.

Class Media Group, owners of Accra FM, have however refuted claims by the Greater Accra Regional Police command that Bobie Ansah declined several invitations from the police to assist in investigations of the false publications.

“There was nowhere in the said police letter that the presenter was wanted by the police,” the Group General Manager of Class Media Group Mr. Mawuli Ocloo is quoted to have said on Class FM Online.

Meanwhile, Bobie Ansah who was arrested yesterday and charged with the publication of false news and offensive conduct, has been put before the Kaneshie District Court awaiting a hearing.
