Bekwai court Jails three highway robbers 20 years
The convicts — Peter Boadi (alias Kwao Ziggy), Daniel Kwaku Owusu, and Eric Kwaku Danso — were found guilty on Monday, October 27, 2025, on two counts: conspiracy to commit robbery and robbery.
The Bekwai Circuit Court, presided over by His Honour Mr. Appiatu, has sentenced three armed robbers to 20 years’ imprisonment each for their roles in a violent highway robbery along the Jacobu–Anwiankwanta road in the Ashanti Region.
The convicts — Peter Boadi (alias Kwao Ziggy), Daniel Kwaku Owusu, and Eric Kwaku Danso — were found guilty on Monday, October 27, 2025, on two counts: conspiracy to commit robbery and robbery.
The court heard that on April 29, 2024, the trio ambushed travellers at Fiankoma near Jacobu, where they robbed victims of two iPhones and GH₵7,000 in cash. One of the victims, a Chinese national, was also forced at gunpoint to transfer GH₵30,000 via mobile money to an accomplice’s account.
Following months of intelligence-led investigations, police operatives apprehended the robbers between June and September 2024 across different locations.
A search at Boadi’s residence in Obuasi Bogobiri uncovered a foreign-made Bruni pistol, a locally manufactured firearm, and ammunition, which were tendered as key exhibits during the trial.
In delivering the sentence, the court underscored the need for deterrence to protect road users from violent crimes on major highways.
The Ghana Police Service, in a statement following the ruling, commended the investigating officers for their diligence and reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that criminals face the full rigour of the law.
