Joyce Bawah Mogtari, a presidential advisor, is seeking a public apology, a retraction of alleged defamatory remarks, and compensation of GHC10 million from Kwame Baffoe—popularly known as Abronye DC—over comments made during a March 2025 interview.
In a formal letter dated 3 April 2025 and delivered by her legal representatives at R O Solomon Consulting, Mogtari accuses Abronye of making damaging and untrue claims during his appearance on Net 2 TV.
According to the letter, Abronye stated that Mogtari was dissuaded from accepting a ministerial role and instead opted for a staffer position at the presidency, allegedly earning a monthly salary of GHC95,000. He reportedly described the role as “stress-free” and further suggested that the supposed salary had made her disrespectful towards Ghanaians—claims her legal team flatly denies as malicious and unfounded.
The lawyers argue that the comments, widely shared across media platforms such as GhanaWeb, have caused severe damage to Mogtari’s reputation, subjecting her to public criticism and professional harm.
They insist that the allegations were not only false but also intentionally harmful, and have negatively affected Mogtari’s public image and credibility.
The letter warns that unless Abronye issues a formal apology and retracts his statements through all channels where they were published, legal proceedings will be initiated.
While acknowledging the constitutional right to free speech, the legal team emphasizes that this right does not extend to spreading deliberate falsehoods intended to defame others.
Abronye has been given a deadline to meet the demands. If he fails to comply, Mogtari's legal team is prepared to pursue a defamation lawsuit.
As of now, Abronye DC has not issued any public response.
