Activist Oliver Barker-Vormawor has been summoned by Parliament’s Appointments Committee to provide evidence supporting his claim that the committee has been soliciting bribes from ministerial nominees in exchange for approval.
His allegations, which have sparked controversy, have been vehemently denied by the committee.
Responding to the claims on Tuesday, January 28, the committee's chairman, Bernard Ahiafor, firmly rejected the accusations, asserting that neither he nor any other committee members had engaged in such misconduct. He dismissed the claims as unfounded and challenged Barker-Vormawor to provide proof.
To address the matter, Mr. Ahiafor has directed the Clerk of the Committee to officially invite the activist to appear before them.
Barker-Vormawor is expected to present evidence during the scheduled hearing on Wednesday, January 29.
Meanwhile, some committee members from the minority NPP have called for a suspension of the vetting process until Barker-Vormawor responds to the allegations before the committee.
