President John Dramani Mahama has imposed strict penalties on government appointees who failed to declare their assets by the March 31 deadline, reinforcing his commitment to accountability and public trust.

In a decisive move, the President directed that each defaulting official forfeit four months' salary—three months as a penalty—in addition to the one-month salary all appointees are required to contribute to the Ghana Medical Trust Fund.

This announcement was made by Government Communications Minister, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, through a Facebook update on Monday, May 5. In his post, he emphasized that the sanctions are immediate and non-negotiable, with further consequences looming for continued non-compliance.

“Those who have not complied must do so by the end of tomorrow or face automatic dismissal,” he warned.

The Ghana Medical Trust Fund, also known as MahamaCares, is a presidential health initiative focused on providing financial relief for citizens living with chronic medical conditions.
