The Ashanti Regional office of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) is preparing to launch a bulk SMS notification system aimed at improving communication and service efficiency for vehicle owners and license applicants.
The initiative, spearheaded by the newly appointed Regional Manager, Jerry E. Aflabo, seeks to ease the frustrations many clients face during the registration and licensing process. Mr. Aflabo made the announcement during a courtesy visit to the Kumasi business unit of The Multimedia Group, where he engaged with staff and management as part of his familiarization tour.
Enhancing Client Communication
According to Mr. Aflabo, the new system will proactively update clients on the status of their vehicle registration and licensing, helping to eliminate the long-standing issue of clients waiting months—or even years—without feedback.
Addressing System Challenges and Public Misconceptions
Mr. Aflabo acknowledged ongoing challenges with the new Vehicle Registration System (VRS) but assured the public of improved engagement with key stakeholders such as garage owners, vehicle importers, and dealers to raise awareness and provide guidance on registration requirements.
He also warned against the use of intermediaries, commonly referred to as ‘goro boys’, stressing that dealing directly with DVLA officials is the safest and most reliable way to access services.
A Promise of Better Service Delivery
Mr. Aflabo pledged to prioritize customer satisfaction in the Ashanti Region, promising a more transparent, responsive, and technology-driven DVLA experience.
