The Asante Mampong Traditional Council has announced a temporary ban on all public gatherings, including funerals, processions, and noise-making, in preparation for the one-week observance of the late Asante Mamponghene, Daasebre Osei Bonsu II.

The memorial event is scheduled for Monday, May 12, 2025. The ban will stay in effect until the final funeral ceremonies are concluded, which are expected to take place within a month.

The directive was issued by the Funeral Committee, led by Barimah Osei Hwedie II, Adontenhene of the Traditional Council and Chief of Ejura. He called on the general public to comply respectfully with the arrangements put in place.

According to the Adontenhene, the date for the main funeral will be communicated after further consultations with the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

He expressed gratitude to the Queen Mother, Nana Agyakomaa Difie II, and other council members for their contributions and support throughout the planning phase.

Security measures are also being strengthened. The committee has held discussions with the Municipal Security Council (MUSEC), and all four municipalities within the traditional area will deploy personnel to ensure safety during both the one-week observance and the final rites.

Barimah Osei Hwedie II encouraged citizens to participate fully in the events as a tribute to the late Mamponghene’s enduring commitment to the progress of Asanteman and Ghana.
