Two men who admitted to orchestrating a violent robbery near the Golden Exotic Farm enclave at Agbazo in Accra have each been handed 17-year custodial sentences by the Amasaman Circuit Court.

The convicts — Lawrence Fumato (28), alias Rasta, and Daniel Dzoka (20), known as Alkaline — were sentenced after entering guilty pleas to Conspiracy to Commit Robbery and Robbery, offences captured under Sections 23(1) and 149 of Act 29. The court ordered that the sentences run concurrently.

According to the Accra Regional Police, the duo staged an ambush on two individuals during the early hours of November 12. Armed with a pair of scissors, they forcibly dispossessed their victims of:

A Royal 150 motorbike

Three mobile phones (Samsung, Tecno Spark 8, and an iTel keypad device)

GH¢4,000 in cash

The attack generated significant concern within the farming community due to the proximity of the incident to the busy agricultural hub.

Police operatives moved in on November 17, conducting a coordinated intelligence-led operation that resulted in the swift arrest of both suspects within the Agbazo vicinity.

Superintendent Juliana Obeng, Head of Public Affairs for the Accra Region, underscored that rapid information-sharing between residents and police units played a decisive role in neutralising the threat.

The Regional Command praised residents for their cooperation and encouraged sustained vigilance as part of a broader security architecture aimed at deterring opportunistic crimes in peri-urban districts.
