Daniel Dagbah, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Akatsi South, in collaboration with local police, successfully impounded a Toyota Venza loaded with marijuana after the vehicle was involved in an accident at the Monome Bypass Junction in the Volta Region.

The vehicle, which security officers had reportedly chased, flipped, and landed in a nearby bush following the crash.

Dagbah, who swiftly responded to the accident scene, confirmed that a subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered large quantities of suspected Indian hemp. “I received an alert at around 6:40 PM on Saturday about the accident in my jurisdiction. I immediately rushed to the location with my security team to manage the situation,” said the MCE.

Upon investigation, authorities found the vehicle contained 378 small-sized, 43 flat-type, and 87 big-sized compressed marijuana pieces, all packed into sacks. The vehicle, which had two different registration numbers—GS 234 -17 and GC 7258-13—was towed to the Akatsi Police Station for further examination.

The driver of the vehicle, however, remains at large. According to the Akatsi Police, efforts are underway to locate and apprehend the individual. In the meantime, a team from the Volta Regional Police Command has taken control of the seized marijuana for further processing.

Dagbah, who also serves as Chairman of the Municipal Security Council (MUSEC), emphasized the importance of continued vigilance and coordination among security agencies to curb illegal activities in the region.
