Agradaa remanded over alleged money-doubling scam

An Accra Circuit Court has remanded into police custody, Fetish priestess turned Evangelist, Patricia Asiedua, following her arrest on Sunday over allegations of money-doubling scam.

Agradaa, founder of the Heaven Way Church in Weija was charged with one count of charlatanic advertisement and six counts of defrauding by false pretences under Act 29 of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960. 

According to reports, Agradaa is said to have earlier promised on TV to give away GH¢300,000 to her congregation with the guarantee of doubling any amount of money an individual offers her.

She is then later said to have shut her church doors and absconded, after taking monies from various individuals.

In court on Monday, she pleaded not guilty and will make her next court appearance on October 13, 2022.
