The driver of the Member of Parliament for Suhum, Samuel Kofi Adjaei has been rearrested by Police in the Eastern Region after being discharged by a Magistrate Court in Koforidua.

This is occurring after the Attorney General’s Department had filed a motion of nolle prosequi to discontinue the case against the driver.

Contrary to section 70 of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960(Act 29), Samuel Kofi Adjei was charged with causing harm with an offensive weapon on September 2, 2021

The Regional State Attorney, Emily Addo-Kyereh indicated to the court that the accused may not avail himself to stand trial if he is granted bail relative to the nature of punishment attached to the offense.

The court, presided by His Worship Danning adjourned the case to September 7, 2021, for ruling on the bail application.

Subsequently, a motion of nolle prosecui was filed on Tuesday, which led to the discharge of the suspect.

He has however been rearrested for fresh charges to be preferred against him.

On Saturday, August 28, 2021, Jamalo, as he is popularly called, who is the driver of the Suhum Member of Parliament according to the police, attacked and inflicted knife wounds on one Kwasi Amoani who is also a member of the NPP communications team after a misunderstanding ensued at the funeral of another party communicator.

The misunderstanding which resulted in a free for all fight among supporters of the MP and another who wants to unseat the MP also resulted in the injury of another party member, who was later treated and discharged at the Suhum Government Hospital.
