Adenta court remands man accused of spreading coup d'etat claims on TikTok
Prosecutors say Razzaq used his TikTok account, @breakingnewsghana, to post a video alleging that two military officers were plotting to assassinate President John Dramani Mahama.
A 30-year-old laundry attendant, Ahmed Hassan Abdul Razzaq, has been kept in police custody after appearing before the Adenta Circuit Court over an allegation of publishing false information likely to cause fear and panic.
Prosecutors say Razzaq used his TikTok account, @breakingnewsghana, to post a video alleging that two military officers were plotting to assassinate President John Dramani Mahama.

The court heard that the video was published on 20 January 2026, and that it specifically named Sergeant Amoh and Sergeant Joseph as the officers behind the alleged plot.
Police said Razzaq was arrested the following day, 21 January, at Adjiringanor in the Greater Accra Region.
In his caution statement, prosecutors said Razzaq admitted making the video but insisted he did not know the two officers and had never met them.
He claimed he acted after seeing a separate claim on social media. However, police told the court he was unable to lead investigators to the original post he said he relied on.
