According to him, the unavailability of land for the above purpose is a major challenge in the way of realizing this vision.
The Chief Justice, His Lordship Kwasi Anin Yeboah has bemoaned the apparent difficulty in achieving the vision of enhancing access to courts in the Greater Accra Region.
According to him, the unavailability of land for the above purpose is a major challenge in the way of realizing this vision.
Speaking at the inauguration of the fully furnished Circuit Court at Achimota in Accra, he noted that it has been agreed by the government to put up about 20 courts within Greater Accra alone but sadly, the allocation of lands for the purpose by the Local Authorities and the Traditional Authorities has not been made.
The Chief Justice further revealed plans by UNICEF to in the coming year, provide the Circuit Court with ICT facilities to effectively handle cases.
Reiterating the plan of the Judicial Service relative to the proximity to the access of courts, he further indicated that the court will reduce the caseloads on the Circuit Court in Accra and further reduce the cost burden of the people who hitherto had to commute to Accra.
Moreover, Justice Anin Yeboah said that so far, the Judicial Service has through its tireless effort, established High courts at places like Adenta, and Amasaman which will deal with the transfer of cases to Accra.
It is based on this that the Chief Justice additionally called on all and sundry to continue to maintain confidence in the courts to continually do justice.
He then appealed to the residents to make good use of the facility by properly maintaining the same.
