Ablekuma arrest: police seize suspected fake dollars, pistol

Police in Accra say they have detained a man linked to the alleged possession of foreign currency suspected to be counterfeit and a firearm without lawful authority, following an intelligence-led operation in Ablekuma.
In a statement, the Ghana Police Service said the arrest was carried out by the National Operations Directorate’s Surveillance Unit. The suspect was named as Josiah Elorm Kwame Amezado.
According to the release, officers acted on intelligence suggesting a self-styled fetish priest in the area was involved in criminal activity and was in possession of a firearm — a development police said could pose a risk to residents.
Police said a search of the suspect’s room led to the discovery of:
quantities of US dollar notes in $100 denominations
handcuffs
a black vest
a Kuzey A100 blank pistol
58 rounds of 9mm blank ammunition
