A Tribute to Sarah Araba Tetteh, Esq.
May the Good Lord keep Sara’s gentle soul in His eternal care until, in His own time, we all meet again.
The finality of death, and its dreadful abruptness, often persuades us that everything ends with it. Yet, if experience has taught us anything, it is that death’s finality sits only upon the life that is lost. Its accompanying sorrow is borne by those who remain, often for the rest of their lives. And that sorrow assumes an even crueller permanence when death claims a good person, a young soul with so much promise still unfolding. In that sense, death leaves the living as its enduring victims.
I have reflected on this ever since I heard of the passing of *Sara Araba Tetteh*. I did not know Sara personally, but over the past few weeks I have come to know her through the testimony of countless others. They speak of a young lawyer who was affable, radiant, intelligent, gracious, and an inspiration to many.
How we have lost such a beautiful, steady-rising lawyer so early is something we cannot fully comprehend. It shakes our faith, confronts us with the fragility of life, and leaves us asking questions for which there are often no satisfying answers. I have no doubt that every young lawyer feels this loss in some measure, for her passing reminds us all how precious and uncertain this journey is.
As President of the Young Lawyers’ Forum of the Ghana Bar Association, and on behalf of all young lawyers, I extend my deepest condolences to her mother, her family, her friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her. I pray that God grants them strength, comfort, and grace in the difficult days ahead.
